Heat Pump Maintenance and Service in Maine

You service your car, why not your heat pump?

Once your new heat pump is installed it is important to keep it running at optimal performance. Our service department is staffed with certified technicians who handle our service and yearly maintenance calls. Ask about our Maintenance Program to ensure optimal efficiency and operation of your new heat pump.

Over time your heat pump will start to build up debris and dander on both the indoor and outdoor coils that will reduce efficiency and shorten the life of the unit if not cleaned and serviced. A heat pump is constantly pulling air (and anything in it) over both the indoor and outdoor coils and as such debris builds up over time

that needs to be cleaned out (like an air filter on a car).

Recommended Homeowner Maintenance

Homeowner maintenance should include a few basic things, such as regularly cleaning your indoor unit filter screens (in warm water or with a vacuum), and occasionally putting the system into heat mode in the summertime to dry out the indoor coil in order to prevent mold and mildew growth.

When to Have Your Heat Pump Serviced & How Often

We recommend you have your heat pump service at least biennially-annually, but there may be other indicators that it’s time for a checkup. Your heat pump may be in need of service if you experience any of the following:

  • An increase in your electricity bill
  • Reduced heating and cooling performance
  • Unusual smells coming from the outdoor unit
