Carrying on a Legacy: How a Thriving Family Business Became Part of Dave’s World

At Dave’s World, we believe the best businesses are built on passion, perseverance, and people who care deeply about their craft. That’s why we’re honored to share the story of how Maine Drain, a thriving family owned drain cleaning business, became part of our growing plumbing and drain division.

Maine Drain was founded by Kyle R. Paquin and his father, Kyle S. Paquin, in central Maine. A Dexter Regional High School graduate, Kyle wasn’t sure what path to take after school, but he knew one thing for sure: he wanted to build something of his own. His father’s career shift opened the door for them to go into business together, and they got their start with a used septic truck and a dream. Maine Highlands Septic was born.

As the business evolved, the father and son team recognized a growing need for drain cleaning services in the region. They pivoted, rebranded as Maine Drain, and dedicated themselves to filling that void, handling everything from clogged sinks to frozen sewer lines during harsh Maine winters. They built their reputation the right way: through hard work, honest service, and a relentless commitment to solving tough problems.

With every new job, Maine Drain expanded their service area and added new tools and capabilities, tackling bigger challenges and helping more Mainers along the way. In 2022, Kyle’s younger brother Adam joined the team after graduating from MCI in Pittsfield, learning the ropes and preparing to run his own service van.

Then, in December 2023, tragedy struck. The passing of Kyle S. Paquin was a devastating loss, not only for the family, but for the business he helped build from the ground up. Unsure how to move forward, Kyle leaned into the relationships he had formed over the years, including one with Dave’s World co-owner Matt Scott. Through shared conversations about music, business, and life, the idea of merging Maine Drain with Dave’s World began to take shape.

After months of thoughtful discussion and planning, Kyle and Adam joined Dave’s World in early 2025, bringing with them years of specialized drain cleaning expertise, a strong work ethic, and the legacy of their father’s vision. Their mother, Wendy, now leads dispatch and customer coordination, making it a true family effort.

Today, Maine Drain lives on as an integral part of the Dave’s World plumbing team. Together, we’re expanding our ability to serve Maine homes and businesses with the same local knowledge and hands on experience that made Maine Drain a household name in the region. And we’re doing it with a renewed sense of purpose, to carry on a legacy of excellence and deliver service that is Awesome.
